Additional Info

Bausch Datacom, a leading designer and manufacturer of dial-up and wireless modems for Commercial and Industrial Systems has developped a complete family of external and embedded PSTN modems specifically to meet the stringent requirements for the Medical Services, Electricity Metering Industry and Alarm Equipments.
One of these external modems is the DinBox PSTN 485 SIA.
The Bausch DinBox range of modems is specially designed for industrial use offering a DIN-rail housing, embedded firmware and protocols, watchdog security, a wide range DC power supply and automated communication possibilities. The DinBox communication devices are presented in 'pocket size dimensions'.
Inside the DinBox PSTN 485 SIA modem we implemented the Bausch SM_H2 Socket Module. This socket modem is a V.92 (56K) PSTN modem based on Conexant Harley 2 Technology. The module is ideal for embedded medical, metering and alarm applications since it offers very low operating power requirements, a small board space, a worldwide compliance and a 3 kV dielectric withstanding voltage. Specifically for alarm applications it supports the SIA alarm protocol and contact ID.
The DinBox PSTN 485 SIA is a professional V.92 56K modem designed in a robust 22.5 mm wide DIN-rail housing with a wide range DC power supply (10-40 Vdc). Stable operation is guaranteed by the long term watchdog that monitors and automatically resets the modem in case of malfunction. The modem has a RS-232 and RS-485 2 and 4-wire interface. For security reasons it supports selective Caller ID answering with disabled automatic answering (ATS0=0).
The new external Bausch modems with SIA & Contact ID protocol are available in both Serial TTL format (SM_H2) and external DIN-RAIL (DinBox PSTN 485 SIA), DESKTOP (Proxima V.92 SIA) and DIN 43861-2 (InduBox PSTN SIA) format, capable of operating under Windows, Linux or Mac environments. The new Bausch modem family is Safety, Emissions, and Telco compliant to meet most medical, alarm and metering device requirements.
