LTE Cat. 1 / GPRS Modem Quadband 800/900/1800/1900 MHz LTE Cat. 1 DIN-rail modem with router functionality for up to 8 LAN devices. With I/O (1xDI, 1x DO). M36 DIN-rail enclosure, 9 modules width. Meant for heavy industrial environments (tested according to extended electromagnetical immunity requirements in the Belgian electricity market). Used for AMR/MDM electricity applications. Different power supplies possible (85-264 Vac, direct 9-57 Vdc etc...) The modem can be used as RTU for IEC 60870-5-104/Modbus (TCO or RTU) mapping.
Since 1989 Bausch Datacom has focused on helping equipment owners save money without risk to reliability. We continue to build on over 25 years of manufacturing experience with quality components, innovation in engineering, service and support to our customers. The DinBox GSM M4 modem is the M36 DINrail version in the well known InduBox range, building on the robustness of the InduBox GSM IX and InduBox GSM M4 Bausch modems, combined with 2 new features: the integration of an Ethernet interface - additional to the classical serial (RS-232/485) interfacing - and an industrial DINrail mounting. So like all InduBox modems the DinBox GSM M4 is especially conceived for 'heavy' industrial environments. The device is tested according to the TST 25-3 extended immunity requirements in the Belgian electricity market. To prevent a lock-up the DinBox GSM M4 is equipped with a long term, configurable watchdog, allowing an automatic and 'hard' reset each 1 to 68 hours (configurable).
Moreover the standard version of the DinBox GSM M4 includes a router functionality for up to 8 LAN devices. This possible usage of the modem as a basic but cost-effective router opens a whole new market for new applications in the utilities. It results in a top quality modem with an impressive history - approximately 60.000 modems in the field of utilities- offering an additional application as a cost-effective basic router; we even have the necessary software upgrades available to use the modem as a basic micro-RTU for IEC 60870-5-104 & Modbus applications.
In general the DinBox GSM M4 can be configured as a transparent modem (GPRS) for meter reading, but also as a SCADA RTU or as a router to your network LAN device (meter, RTU, etc.).
Basic features such as remote firmware upgrade, DHCP, static routing, gateway setting etc... are included. The modem can be programmed through a webserver interface.
The complete modem infrastructure can be managed by a Modem Management System (Praxis) in order to group, control and log your modem infrastructure and their communication parameters, like costs.
For example every 15 minutes the DinBox GSM M4 can be programmed to measure the reception level <rssi> of the signal sent by the closest GSM Base Transceiver Station (BTS) as well as the received bit error rate <ber>. In fact, the DinBox GSM M4 will keep statistics of 'rssi' and 'ber', time of watchdog restart, number and time of switching between CSD and GPRS, settings of the RS-232, RS-485 and config ports (baudrate, parity, stopbits), GPRS settings (APN...), IMEI code etc...
These statistics can be stored internally in the modem and retrieved on a daily base.
